| Random Thought: | Crickets are God's way of teaching humans the concept of background music. --Mike Wever on October 16, 2006 |
This month's first short story is Stafford's Hands, wherein George Brehm compresses the essentials of a boy-meets-girl novel into a few short but very effective pages. Next is Rick McQuiston's story of how our world might meet its whimpering end. Then we spend An Hour with Tommy Rhodes, where the eponymous psychologist tries to help a man who believes he can read minds. Next, in A Roomba of One's Own, L.A. Geddes shows what happens when a man tries to come between his dedicated housewife and her cleaning appliances. Wrapping up the issue is A Long Way from Home by Curt McDaniel, a haunting story of a man whose end comes in a land of strangers.
John Charles Dyer has the poetry section to himself this issue with a piece about any given day at the mall.
